Under the MOU, Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and Kuwait’s Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) will work together to accelerate the implementation of e-government in Kuwait and IDA will also serve as an advisor to CAIT on matter pertaining to IT and egovernment. Both parties will share experience, technical and operational insights on selected projects.

This current deal follows the success of two past MOUs signed between Singapore and Kuwait in September 2004 and 2005 respectively. Under the first MOU signed in 2004, Singapore provided support to Kuwait in the establishment of CAIT and the development of an e-government blueprint for Kuwait. The second MOU signed in 2005 kick-started two high priority e-government projects—the Kuwait Information Network and the Kuwait Government Online.

“This MOU between IDA and CAIT further strengthens the relationship between Singapore and Kuwait. We have learnt from each other through previous engagements and we look forward to continued collaboration with CAIT in the future,” said Leong Keng Thai Deputy Chief Executive and Director-General (Telecoms & Post) of IDA.

The MOU signing is part of the state visit by the President of Singapore to Kuwait. It was signed in Kuwait City by Leong and Ali M. Al-Shuraidah Director-General of CAIT.
