South Korea’s Ministry of Public Administration and Security is organising an International Information and Communication Technology Collaboration Commission (ICTCC) to help the country export its e-government model.
The plan is to improve Korea’s e-government export process by carefully diagnosing the importing country’s e-government industry as a whole and then tailoring the IT solutions accordingly.
The Ministry said that a memorandum of understanding was exchanged with the Vietnamese government last week (August 9 2009) to help upgrade its e-government infrastructure.
Ministers from countries with which Korea consults will serve jointly as chairmen of the Commission, which will meet regularly to discuss various IT and governance issues.
“The commission will eliminate the inefficiency of having to approach each business sporadically as well as provide Korea with the opportunity to take the main role in developing IT in Vietnam and receive orders from all major businesses at once,” said a Ministry official.
Prior to this, Vice Minister Kang Byung-kyu visited Kuwait August 3 to negotiate an agreement to form a similar commission with Kuwait. He also discussed issues regarding ICT in Kuwait such as building a portal service for the Kuwaiti government, improving the information network, and fortifying information security.
In addition to promoting collaboration with Egypt and Indonesia, Minister Lee Dal-gon will propose a plan to organise a Commission during his scheduled visit to Morocco later this month.
