The unification of information

With the Internet making the world flatter, the world has changed profoundly over the last ten years. Citizens are expecting higher information quality delivered from their Government agencies more than ever before.

When governments around the world are planning IT solutions to serve their citizens, they must take the following imperatives into consideration:

  • Improve decision making – which requires quick access to accurate trusted information
  • Modernise business processes and reduce IT costs – which requires upgrading of systems and the subsequent transfer of data into new systems
  • Improve customer service and operational efficiency – which requires pulling together information relating to a specific customer into a single view to enhance customer service.
  • Outsourcing non-core functions – which requires the passing of data across systems outside of the central IT environment

However, that data is usually spread across a complex IT environment – both within and outside the firewalls. The big question is whether an IT solution can deliver the service required to achieve those business imperatives.

At Government Information Forum Hong Kong, Informatica, the leader in data integration technology, will share how to enable Government agencies to gain a competitive advantage in today’s complex information environment, by empowering them to access, integrate and trust all their information assets.

“Building Successful Data Integration Platform” (20th Aug, 10:10 am – 10:40 am)
Derek Leung, Technical Solution Manager, Informatica Corporation, Hong Kong

How data integration platforms can help Government lower costs, improve efficiency, and deliver greater value.

  • Maximise value from available resources – both human and technological
  • Speed up deployment in the face of increased budget constraints
  • Ensure your team stays flexible and responsive to the changing needs of the organisation.

Besides Derek Leung, this high-level conference, organised by FutureGov Magazine, will gather numerous public sector ICT leaders from APAC and beyond to discuss key technical fields that must be embraced for agencies to drive organisational efficiency, enhance customer engagement while at the same time improving corporate accountability and transparency.

Key benefits for delegates will be best practice examples on how to:

  • Manage information overload
  • Improve service delivery to citizens
  • Enable collaborative working
  • Establish an ‘‘information - centric’’ mindset
  • Plan and drive a knowledge management framework
  • Build a secure and flexible IT infrastructure
  • Align people, information and technology.

Local and international experts such as:

  • Jeremy Godfrey (Government Chief Information Officer, HONG KONG)
  • Laurence Millar (Former Government CIO, State Service Commission, NEW ZEALAND)
  • Dr Chao Han-Chieh (IT Director, Computer Centre, Ministry of Education, TAIWAN)
  • Dr Kim Seang-Tae (President, National Information Society Agency, KOREA)
  • Bob Correll (Dty Secretary and CIO, Dept of Immigration and Citizenship, AUSTRALIA)
  • Prof Eric Tsui (Ass. Director, KM Research Centre, Polytechnic University, HONG KONG),
and many more will enlighten delegates with their experience and thoughts on how to ensure successful government modernisation.

Registration for Government Information Forum Hong Kong is open for all public sector officials.
