Tax and Revenue Management: A government’s lifeblood

IT has provided the opportunities for governments to remodel the entire process of tax collection over the last decade. It is, however, a continuously evolving process and governments the world over need to constantly upgrade their tax systems to optimise their revenue workflows.

Unlocking Public Value

A recent SAP study confirmed that those organisations which adopt best practices in the areas of scope and adoption, process standardisation, technology and customer governance, do perform better, and do so as their best practice maturity increases.

Governments and Socialising

The advent of social media has seen governments hopping onto the bandwagon in a bid to further engage citizens.

The conference, devised and organised by FutureGov magazine, will see an array of public sector ICT leaders from Asia Pacific and beyond gather to discuss the technology, systems and the processes that must be embraced for agencies to drive organisational efficiency, enhance customer engagement and improve accountability and transparency.

Dr Tam, a home-grown IT man with an international outlook, was bitten early by the business bug. In 1989, at the age of 24, he successfully launched his first invention. By 1993, Tam’s company Group Sense Limited - a world leading manufacturer of electronic dictionaries and other handheld devices - was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and now counts iconic multinationals among its blue-chip clients.

Tam takes his civic duties seriously. He has served on bodies both within and outside of the IT industry. He is currently Deputy Chairman of the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), a member of VTC’s (Vocational Training Council) Information Technology Training and Development Committee, the Digital 21 Strategy Advisory Committee and the Small and Medium Enterprises Committee.

In 2008 he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by HKUST, the leading technological university in Asia, in recognition of his service and leadership in technology and the community.

As well as Dr Tam, the Government Information Forum will attract the cream of public sector ICT professionals to share best practice on how to tackle the key challenges of today and the future: - how to manage information overload - improve service delivery to citizens - enable collaborative working - establish an information-centric mindset - plan and drive a knowledge management framework - build a secure and flexible IT infrastructure - and how to align people, information and technology

Local and international experts will share their experiences on how to ensure successful government modernisation:

  • Jeremy Godfrey (Government Chief Information Officer, HONG KONG)
  • Laurence Millar (Former Government CIO, State Service Commission, NEW ZEALAND)
  • Dr Chao Han-Chieh (IT Director, Computer Centre, Ministry of Education, TAIWAN)
  • Dr Kim Seang-Tae (President, National Information Society Agency, KOREA)
  • Bob Correll (Dty Secretary and CIO, Dept of Immigration and Citizenship, AUSTRALIA)
  • Prof Eric Tsui (Ass. Director, KM Research Centre, Polytechnic University, HONG KONG),
  • and many more

Registration for Government Information Forum Hong Kong is open for all public sector officials. If you would like to join this event please download the complete agenda and details here:
