Bill Schrier, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Seattle, Bob Correll, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Australia’s Immigration and Citizenship Department, and Lee Hsang-Chen, the Director of Information Systems for Taiwan’s National Police Agency are the latest additions to the speaker line-up for the Government Information Forum (GIF) in Hong Kong this summer.
The trio join the event’s keynote speaker, Jeremy Godfrey, Hong Kong’s Government Chief Information Officer, as well as New Zealand’s former GCIO Laurence Millar, at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong on 19-20th August.
Bill Shrier is responsible for Seattle’s data communications and computer services, among other duties. He wields a sizeable IT budget and has won a bevy of national awards for seattle.gov, the Washington state city’s local government portal. His thoughts on how IT and government intersect are a common theme on his web blog, blog.chiefseattlegeek.com.
Australian Immigration’s Bob Correll won an award this year for the launch of the Visa Wizard and Citizen Wizard projects, interactive self-service tools for travellers and migrants. He also earned plaudits for his department’s e-Visitor initiative.
Lee Hsang-Chen of Taiwan’s National Police Agency is a specialist on cyber crime and information security, and has experience as Director of the country’s Hi-Tech Crime Center.
Samantha Strauss, the Head of Conferences for GIF-organiser FutureGov, noted: “Having so many high-level international speakers on the programme reflects the importance and relevance of the content covered not only regionally but beyond. It is telling that speakers from outside the region are keen to meet with, and learn from, people in Hong Kong. It is testament to the rapid development of the territory and the interest that other regions have in Asia as a whole.”
Other speakers at GIF Hong Kong include:
… to name a few.
Government Information Forum is the most senior level government IT event in the calendar in North Asia, and the longest-running government technology event series in Asia. Government Information Forum is FutureGov magazine’s sixth regional government information event.
