The Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU), a key government agency responsible for ‘modernising and reforming’ the public sector, is upgrading the Putrajaya Campus Network (PCN).
The PCN is a network that connects all government agencies in the Federal Government Administration Centre in Putrajaya. The new network will leverage high-end multi-service routing switches by 3Com Corporation.
Intelligent Resilient Framework (IRF) technology is used to virtually combine multiple switches so they function as a single logical switch, helping MAMPU achieve high network scalability and availability.
The new network will support high bandwidth integrated services including Multiple Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), IPv6, network security, network port virtualisation, and high availability virtual core switching. This will enable users to access shared Web services and collaborate more effectively.
After upgrading, MAMPU will be able to save on energy costs as the new equipment is designed with advanced silicon technology that uses up to 60 per cent less power than previous generation equipment.
MAMPU is also deploying 3Com’s H3C Intelligent Management Centre (IMC) network management software, a service-oriented architecture (SOA)-based solution that converges and correlates network information and logs from multiple systems.
