Tax and Revenue Management: A government’s lifeblood

IT has provided the opportunities for governments to remodel the entire process of tax collection over the last decade. It is, however, a continuously evolving process and governments the world over need to constantly upgrade their tax systems to optimise their revenue workflows.

Unlocking Public Value

A recent SAP study confirmed that those organisations which adopt best practices in the areas of scope and adoption, process standardisation, technology and customer governance, do perform better, and do so as their best practice maturity increases.

Governments and Socialising

The advent of social media has seen governments hopping onto the bandwagon in a bid to further engage citizens.

Press and Publication Bureau offices in Liaoning, Beijing, Anhui, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Guangxi and Guangdong will benefit from the new system, which aims to deliver uniform standards, interoperability and data resource integration.

One of the pioneers of the project was the Beijing Digital Publication Information Centre, which upgraded its own systems in 2009. The new centralised system integrated business and statistical data, back office functions as well as hardware and networking equipment, achieving greater administrative efficiency.

Ai Limin (pictured), Director, Press and Publication Administration Information Centre, said that the platform will be rolled out to include other autonomous regions and municipalities in the near future.

“Building a unified information platform for the press and publication industry is a long and complicated process,” he said. “There is an imbalance between the provinces in terms of e-government development, and there is a lot of work to do to ensure farther flung provinces benefit from new e-government platforms.”
