According to De Lima, the National Justice Information Network (NJIS) will replace the National Crime Information System (NCIS) which the previous administration started.

The NJIS is a country wide information network that will contain a national database of convicted offenders for easy tracking and reference for the public and among the government’s different agencies. The Information network aims to facilitate greater and efficient coordination between different government departments, the general public, and the counter-crime agencies.

In addition, De Lima also revealed that the department would also be implementing the full-roll out of its “electronic case monitoring” that would allow the public and the prosecutors to monitor pending cases in court.

The electronic case monitoring system would help in creating awareness among people and business organisations on different types of prevalent threats in cyberspace and hopefully shed light on the methods used by criminals to deceive internet users.

With the aforementioned IT initiatives, De Lima hopes to fortify the agency’s thrust towards a proactive approach to battle cybercrime and curb its ill effects on the economy and the society.
