The Policy Development Team of Changwon City is developing a web site to communicate with 1.09 million Changwon citizens in various ways to set a foundation of participatory administration.
The Mobile Hope Generator, to be launched as a web site and a phone application, will be an engagement platform for citizens. It is envisioned as a medium where the public and government officials can debate on Changwon City’s policies.
“The project is initiated so that people can propose ideas anytime and anywhere. This empowers citizen-government communication, and enables the local government to be more efficient in policy-making,” Marsuk Sin, Policy Development Team Project Head told FutureGov Asia Pacific.
The website will have functions of communication, idea database search, and real time survey. This will be the pioneer of applications customised to Changwon City and its citizens.
Sin also said, “Incentives will be given for citizen participation including website visit, contribution, and idea sharing. We are putting our best efforts to design various ways to encourage citizen to participate.”
The development of the project is in progress to be completed by the first half of this year. The Plicy Development Team will hold a trial period during the second half of the year and officially launch the website before the end of 2011.
