MOPAS Minister Maeng Hyung-kyu (pictured) and his Italian counterpart Minister for Public Administration and Innovation Renato Brunetta have met to exchange views on the programmes of modernization and digitalization of the public sector of both countries.

After the meeting, the two ministers signed the MOU on issues of e-government and innovation that will allow for collaborations and exchange of experience in the fields of health, education, justice and security.

The agreement also provides for cooperation between Italy and Korea on multi-platform services for citizens and businesses.

The two sides agreed to boost exchanges of officials and technicians. The deal with the Italy has also opened up the entire European e-government market for Korean IT companies.
In Italy, the agreement will be implemented by the Department for Digitization and Technological Innovation and DigitPA—the national body for the digitalisation of public administration.

Korea ranks first in the world in the United Nations Electronic Government Survey. Korea is also located at the top in international rankings for broadcasting infrastructure and broadband Internet usage.
