Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has presided over a satellite video conference on flood relief efforts of the government officials and representatives from flood-hit areas in the country.
Through telepresence systems, the officials who are in the Sidh province discussed with the President from the presidential palace the flood relief operations for the affected districts —Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar and Umerkot.
Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar said that during the video conference, the President directed the Chief Minister of Sindh and public representatives of the flood affected areas to expedite relief work for those homeless flood victims before the winter season.
The President also inquired about the need assessment and supply position of various commodities in the affected areas of Sindh.
The district coordination officers informed the President about health facilities, availability of medicines in Sindh districts along with other steps taken to prevent outbreak of various diseases particularly dengue fever and hepatitis.
Among those who were present during the video conference are Speaker of the National Assembly Fehmida Mirza, Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar, Secretary General to the President Salman Faruqui and Members of National Assembly.
The Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority Zafar Iqbal Qadir, Chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority Ali Arshad Hakeem and other senior officials of the departments concerned also joined the video conference.
