In 2012, hand-held touchscreen devices will be issued to soldiers who guard or patrol Singapore’s key installations such as the country’s petrochemical hub called Jurong Island and the airport.
Soldiers from an infrantry battalion will be given devices such as Apple iPads or Samsung Galaxy tablets for field trials, and will be among the first in the Singapore Armed Forces’ (SAF) operational units to take this high-tech route.
