15,000 Bahrainis to get computer training
Bahrain’s eGovernment Authority will train 15,015 Bahrainis within two years on basic computer use in an effort to reduce the digital divide in the kingdom.
The programme, called Qudrat eTraining, is a national project which aims to eliminate computer illiteracy by training 2,015 government employees and 13,000 Bahraini nationals, officials said in a statement.
Each trainee will attend a two-hour training session for 12 days.
Citizens will be taught on how to use the Microsoft Office and internet applications. They will also be trained on how to use the eGovernment portal of Bahrain.
Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, CEO of the eGovernment Authority, said the Capacity Building project is a continuous human investment in line with the continuous education.
“The return on investment for us is improving quality of work to obtain the customers satisfaction on the government services,” he added.
Al Qaed said Qudrat eTraining is one of the major projects of the eGovernment Authority to attain Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 which is to build an information society.
The government has partnered with Microsoft in rolling out the capability programme.
The eGovernment Authority has signed two Memorandums of Understanding with two institutes to contribute as partners in the project.
It had earlier signed an agreement with the General Organisation for Youth and Sports to train 1,000 youths.
