Ajman, one of the seven Emirates that form the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is establishing an agency facilitating the electronic transformation and coordinating government departments on IT programmes.
Ajman Electronic Government (AEG), as the agency is named, is being set up under the decree issued by His Highness Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of the Emirate.
AEG is attached to the Executive Council, the central governing organ of the state. It will enjoy corporate body and legal capacity in accordance to the provisions of the decree.
Dubai, the most populous among the seven Emirates, established an eGovernment department in 2009, while Abu Dhabi, the largest in terms of geographic area, set up the Systems and Information Centre in 2005 to centrally implement e-government programmes.
