The initiative saw the establishment of Centre for Excellence in Public Sector Design; Jane Treadwell, Editor-at-large of FutureGov and former CIO of the government of State of Victoria, was appointed CEO of the Centre through a public service process.

Treadwell’s previous roles also included senior consultant to the World Bank and Deputy CEO for Business Transformation at Centrelink, the one-stop service-provisioning agency under the Department of Human Services.

“She is eminently qualified and has the right skills for establishing this initiative and she has a keen understanding of the value of collaborative innovation in the APS,” said Minister Assisting for Industry and Innovation Kate Lundy, who added that the new initiative would assist the public sector meet challenges and find new ways of working to deliver better outcomes for all Australians.

Updates from the Centre are posted on http://innovation.govspace.gov.au/blog.

Hi - Alex Roberts from the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education. Thanks for the story about the new Centre - just to note, Ms Treadwell was not appointed by Minister Lundy, rather through a public service process. Thanks, Alex
