Da Nang city is planning on building a data centre and wireless internet connection networks with 300 transceivers as part of the city administration’s vision to become a ‘smarter city’.
According to Phung Tan Viet, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, the city is investing heavily on ICT so as to create a more favourable condition for people to access public services whilst improving efficiency and effectiveness of administrative operations.
The ‘smarter city’ vision stems from a partnership with IBM to develop a roadmap for its second IT park, one that is supported by state-of-the –art IT infrastructure and state management projects.
Da Nang is home to some 300 IT enterprises. In the previous year, the industry implemented 21 IT programmes and projects with a total investment of VND1.5 billion (US$ 71,800). Its IT revenues on the other hand, stands at nearly 50 per cent higher than the earnings in 2011.
