Hong Kong Police is keeping citizens and residents updated on its work through its YouTube channel and mobile application, as part of its strategy to strengthen communication with the public using social media.
According to the police, the interactive multi-media YouTube channel helps the community understand the force better, promote the force’s positive image, and garner confidence and support from the public.
The channel has attracted 167,037 views todate and 2836 subscribers. It contains 285 videos in seven key categories:
To enrich the content of the channel, various formations, cadres, clubs as well as videography lovers from the force have been encouraged to produce videos depicting different natures of police work.
The YouTube launch is another step towards engaging the community through social media. It follows a successful launch of its mobile application - HKP Moible App - last July.
The HKP Mobile App, available in both IOS and Android Version, have received positive feedback from users for providing instant, on-the-go access to information on the force. The application features the following functions:
